In morphology we know the term 'morpheme', which is the smallest element in morphology. To determine whether a unit of form is morpheme or not, how do we compare this form in its presence with other forms?
ReplyDeleteA morpheme can be a root, suffixes or preffixes. All word are morpheme, so in morphology we just learn how to identify a morpheme in a word.

DeleteI think we must know as good as possible about morphology, because it study about word, and we use word everyday in our daily life to communicate with other. And also you can use 'beautiful' and complex word when communicate. Not only that you also can identifay a word become smallest unit of word.

Monalisa you said in your presentation word of unforgiveable has three morphemes right. Because there are prefix - root - suffix right . Then possible if one word has more than three morphemes ?? Please answer my question soonππ

DeleteAnd the answer of your question is yes, its possible.
After search from some sources, i found that the answer is yes..
The pattern of a word not always consist of one prefix-root-suffix. But it can be more than one affixes.
For example: de-nation-al-is(e)-ation. This word consist of 5 morphemes. (prefix-noun-suffix-suffix-suffix)
If you need more example, just search on google with key word "morphology tree". And you will find more words with many morphemes and that explanation.
Hopefully it can help you to understand more about morphology.

Now i get it . So we can know how many moprhemes from the word right . Look at the word and we can analyze how many morphemes of the word can be one morphemes, three morphemes, five morphemes or maybe more than five morphemes right . Thank you for the answer of my question ππ

I think i have explained it in my power point,but its okay will explain it again.
In my opinion, word and morpheme are different. Word always can stand alone, and have meaning. But morpheme can be a word and not a word. Why? Because free morpheme is a word but bound morpheme is not a word because they can stand alone and must be added to other word to get meaning.
